You must fall in love with editing and rewriting or with your editor if you want what you write to be a good read for others. There really is no way around this. You can choose to improve your skills or you can choose to find a freelance editor you trust and work well with.

Problem solving is an important job of a manager. However, a problem can’t be solved if the problem isn’t properly identified and understood. Ineffective managers, including our favorite Crass Captain, jump to conclusions and solve symptoms. Even worse, they blame people and cause a witch hunt for the guilty parties instead of finding the real problem and solving it.
Quality programs, such as QS 9000 ? common to the automotive industry, use the concept of root cause analysis in problem solving. The person new to the system is frequently tempted to quickly jump at the answer without depth of investigation. A quality review that discovers quick assumptions being made by management will take this as weaknesses in company operations.
